Day 1

Take the early morning flight to Gaziantep. Upon arrival you will be met at the airport by your private guide and transferred to the Ancient City of Zeugma in Nizip Province of Gaziantep which is 50 km's away from the city. It is important to see this Ancient site before the Zeugma Mosaic Museum visit in order to understand the importance of those mosaics.

About The City Of Zeugma

Founded around 300 BC by Seleucos I Nicator who was one of the generals of Alexander the Great, Seleucia was located on the "southern silk road" which linked the Mediterranean to India and China. The city was included in the Roman Empire in 64 BC. During this period this place, with Apameia which is located on the opposite bank of the river, became the most famous crossing spot on the Euphrates, because a floating bridge constructed here allowed almost permanently the caravans and the military convoys to cross the river on their way to or from Mesopotamia. The name of Seleucia was then amended as Zeugma, meaning "the bridge". The city was considerably rich because there was an important customs where border trade developed, and also because it became the centre of the 4th Roman Legion. Zeugma was also famous for its sanctuary dedicated to Tyche. In 256 AD Seleucia was destroyed by the Sassanid Persians. In the 4th century, it was ruled over by late Roman domination and after by the Byzantines. As a result of the Arab raids, Zeugma was abandoned in the 7th century. In the 10th and in the 12th century, there was a small Abassid settlement, and finally a village called Belkis was founded here in the 17th century.

After the Zeugma visit, you will return back to Gaziantep and visit one of the best Mosaic Museums of the world Zeugma Mosaic Museum. Among many important mosaics you will also be seeing the famous Gypsy girl and the Poseidon Mosaics.

After the Zeugma Museum visit it will be time to try the famous kebab dishes of Gaziantep which is also known as the culinary capital of Turkey.

After lunch it will be time to discover the Old Town of Gaziantep with its many market places and bazaars.

Overnight in Gaziantep.

Day 2

After breakfast in the hotel, drive to Yesemek open Air Museum. Also known as the Yesemek Quarry and Sculpture Museum, the site was discovered in 1890 by the archaeologist Felix Von Luschan. Extensive excavations conducted between 1989 and 1991 unearthed several pieces of statuary and the site has now been converted into an open-air museum and has been nominated for the UNESCO World Heritage list.

Return back to Gaziantep and has some free time for the shopping and in the evening transfer back to Airport to fly back to Istanbul
